Do your products need to be refrigerated?
Yes, please do! Our Flanagan Farm Kraut loves the chill. Keep in the fridge before and after opening it to keep it crunchy, fresh, and packed with probiotics. Cold temps slow down fermentation, extending shelf life and preserving that perfect crunch we’re known for.
Does Flanagan Farm Sauerkraut contain any allergens?
Since allergies differ from person to person, we can’t say that our kraut is allergen free. However, we can guarantee that it’s free of the top 9 major food allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, wheat, sesame, soybeans) and is made with minimal ingredients which helps keep it allergen free to most people. Does Flanagan Farm contain probiotics?
100%! Our sauerkraut is fully fermented which means it keeps in all those “good for your gut” probiotics. Kraut: the simple superfood!
How can I know that the Flanagan Farm product is fully organic?
All our ingredients are certified organic by a 3rd party, the Quality Assurance International (QAI). QAI is committed to the highest quality standards for organic and has demonstrated this with accreditations from the USDA, NOP, CFIA, COR, and CAEQ.
How long does your sauerkraut last after opening?
Our kraut is made to last! You’ll find a best by date on the back of the pouch, so please use that as your guide.
How many probiotics are in this kraut?
While we can’t give you an exact count (fermentation’s funny that way), you can trust there are gut-friendly bacteria in every pouch. For optimal gut health, dietitians suggest two forkfuls a day.
Is Flanagan Farm Sauerkraut fermented?
Absolutely! It’s fully fermented to perfection, so you get all the gut friendly probiotics in each bite!
Is Flanagan Farm raw or pasteurized?
Flanagan Farm sauerkraut is not pasteurized which allows the good live cultures – like probiotics - to stay in the product. It’s like a health shot straight to your gut!
The package says, “From Farm to Fermented in 24 hours”. What does that mean?
Our organic cabbage farm is less than 75 miles from our production facility so once cabbages are picked, they’re put on a truck and driven for driven same day to our production facility. This guarantees we’re able to get our cabbage from the farm to being fermented within a 24-hour period. The fresher a cabbage is going into prep the better results coming out. Flanagan Farm is great tasting kraut!
What process does Flanagan Farm sauerkraut go through while being produced?
We ferment our kraut for a minimum of 28 days which allows for optimal fermentation prior to packing.

Where is Flanagan Farm sauerkraut made?
Our cabbage is grown on Flyte Family Farm in Plover, WI. From there it’s sent via truck to our production plant in Bear Creek, WI.
Why do you use plastic pouches instead of glass for your kraut?
Great question! Our pouches come with a high-tech degassing valve on the back (fun fact – it’s a reverse of the coffee bag valve!). This allows air out of the package so that our krauts can continue to ferment without any messy leaks or explosions. Other pros of Flanagan Farm kraut in a pouch: lighter package, takes up less space in your ‘fridge, convenient ready-to-eat kraut, easy to pack and take with you!
Why is Flanagan Farm cabbage better than non-organic and others?
At Flanagan Farm we use rich, clean soil that’s prepared for certified premium organic seeds. Setting up this base means that our veggies can take on natural growth with just sun and water. Once the cabbage is ready to be harvested, we hand pick and de-weed each head.
